About your role:


McDonald Automotive is looking for a driven Accounting Intern who is ready for an immersive real-world experience. The program will run from June 10th through Aug 2nd. We seek individuals with basic understanding of financial principles and a thirst to pursue a career within the field. Interns are expected to prepare journal entries, review, and analyze financial reports, practice bookkeeping software, and commit to daily administrative duties.

To be a strong candidate for our program, you must prove you are a motivated team player, possess a basic understanding of accounting fundamentals, work efficiently and accurately, and above all bring a positive attitude. Look forward to being challenged by your peers and be open to positive feedback along the way. Our program is designed to give you a real hands-on introduction to the accounting role. 


Essential Duties and Major Responsibilities:


  • Shadowing members of the Accounting department as they perform their duties.
  • Assisting with research, filing, data entry, and recording and maintaining accurate and complete financial records.
  • Preparing financial reports, such as balance sheets and income statements, invoices, and other documents.
  • Working with bookkeeping software.
  • Handling sensitive or confidential information with honesty and integrity.
  • Learning how to work as part of the Accounting team to compile and analyze data, track information, and support the company or clients.
  • Taking on additional tasks or projects to learn more about accounting and office operations.


Accounting Intern Requirements:


  • Must be actively working towards a Bachelor’s or Masters in Accounting or have equivalent experience.
  • Must be able to complete the 8-week program within the time frame.
  • Satisfactory completion of introductory accounting courses and a basic understanding of accounting and financial principles.
  • Aptitude for math, proficiency with computers.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • High level of efficiency, accuracy, and responsibility.
  • Motivation and a strong desire to take on new challenges and learn as much as possible.
