Position overview The University of California, San Diego (UCSD),
Department of Pediatrics ( and Rady Children's Hospital of San Diego (
are committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty,
fellows, staff, and student body. The Division of Pediatric Nephrology
is seeking to recruit pediatric nephrologists or physician-scientists
at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor to join a group
of 7 faculty members. Faculty members in the Division of
Pediatric Nephrology are currently involved in basic science, clinical
and translational research as well as quality improvement initiatives.
Our research is currently funded by the National Institutes of Health,
charitable Foundations, and the Pharmaceutical Industry. We
participate in national collaboratives including NAPRTCS, CKiD, SCOPE,
IROC, and PRNC. Division faculty members are actively engaged in the
training of UCSD medical students and pediatric residents. Our
long-standing ACGME-accredited pediatric nephrology fellowship program
currently has 5 fellows including an active med-peds training program.
The Comprehensive Kidney Care Center, located at RCHSD, houses the
general nephrology, transplant, and dialysis clinics and a
five-station pediatric dialysis unit. Activities include shared care
for 15-25 chronic hemo- and peritoneal dialysis patients and 10-15
kidney transplant recipients per year, as well as CRRT and apheresis
programs. RCHSD is the only free-standing children's
hospital in the San Diego region with 511 beds including a level IV
NICU, level I trauma center, cardiac ICU with an active cardiac
transplant program, and a bone marrow transplant program. Beyond the
main RCHSD campus, we also provide consultative services at the UCSD
NICU at Jacobs Medical Center in La Jolla, Sharp Mary Birch, Kaiser-
Permanente, and Rady satellite clinics in northern San Diego County
and Riverside County. The Division of Nephrology has been consistently
ranked in the top 30 in the Nation by the US News and World Report and
most recently ranked 13th. As clinical faculty, the
successful candidates will be expected to serve as attendings in the
outpatient clinic and on the inpatient Nephrology service. The
successful candidates will also be expected to provide high-quality
training and teaching, and/or develop clinical research related to one
or more of the division-related academic interests. The
appropriate series and appointment will be based on the candidate's

range:
The posted UC Salary scales set the minimum
pay at the appointment as determined by appointment type and if
applicable, rank and/or step. The base pay range for this position is
$155,000-$250,000. Salary is negotiated annually. Additional
compensation may be available if the position includes membership in

Qualifications
Candidates must have an MD or
equivalent, DO, or MD/PhD in health-related fields and must have or be
eligible for a California medical license or equivalent
certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.
Candidates must be Board certified or Board eligible in Pediatric
Nephrology by the American Board of Pediatrics.
