Job Description Summary |
The Theatre & Dance
Department of Nazareth University invites applications for a
tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor
to begin August 2024.
Responsibilities encompass designing
departmental productions, mentoring student designers, and collegial
collaboration with guest designers and faculty artists. Candidates
will also be expected to teach courses related to Costume Design, as
well as additional teaching assignments that may cover other areas of
technical theatre and Introduction to Theatre. Furthermore, this role
involves active participation in departmental and university-level
committees, as well as in recruitment efforts and other assigned
departmental tasks. As a tenure-track position, the successful
applicant is expected to demonstrate commitment to creative practice
through an ongoing and sustained professional theatrical practice.
Please include any administrative interests and
experience.
Any faculty hired at the rank of Associate
Professor encompasses the possibility of serving as Chair of the
Department of Theatre and Dance. If applicable, the candidate will
have a broad and inclusive understanding of performance and design,
particularly competencies in dance, theater, and musical theatre. As
the role of chair requires oversight of and engagement with both the
academic curriculum and a vibrant and extensive co-curriculum of
performances and productions, please articulate any budgeting,
resource management and faculty mentorship
experience.
Nazareth University, an independent,
comprehensive institution with 1,900 undergraduate and 550 graduate
students, prepares its graduates to serve local and global communities
through a wide range of liberal arts and professional programs.
Nazareth seeks to hire teacher-scholars with a demonstrated commitment
to excellent teaching, student success, and civic engagement, and an
understanding of the educational benefits of ethnic and racial
diversity in the campus community. The University is located minutes
from downtown Rochester, New York, a city noted for its rich arts and
cultural community and its international businesses and industry.
Applications from candidates from diverse backgrounds are encouraged.
