Full Job Description

An employee in this position performs highly responsible and confidential work associated with the day-to-day operations and administration of the Suffolk County Police Department. The major emphasis of this position is on the confidential nature of the work involved. The incumbent exercises a considerable amount of independent judgment and initiative in the performance of duties. Work is performed under the direction of the Police Commissioner and is reviewed through conferences, reports, and observation of results.

Requirements:
Graduation from a standard senior high school, or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and five (5) years of experience in a large police department (more than 1000 employees), working for a commissioner, deputy commissioner or command-level sworn officer, with responsibility for assisting with highly responsible department-wide administrative duties in a variety of operational areas including hiring and promotion, data reporting and analysis, budget review and analysis, and the evaluation of departmental procedures as they relate to compliance with applicable laws and policies.
