The main purpose of this position is to provide clerical support to the Newborn Screening unit that process clinical specimens submitted to the State Public Health laboratory as part of the Laboratories Administration's quality public health laboratory services to promote, protect, and preserve the health and well-being of the people of Maryland from communicable and hereditary disease, and from environmental hazards.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Data Entry
In the Starlims computer system, enter demographic in required fields from the newborn screening laboratory slip, verify previously entered demographics for newborn screening, enter demographics for other labs within the Administration so specimen/sample files and reports maybe generated.
Problem Resolution Desk
Communicates in person or by telephone with co-workers and internal/external customers; to include answering the telephone, responding to telephone requests for results and faxing of reports according to the SOPM.
MANDATORY FUNCTIONS
Required overtime in the evenings Monday-Friday, Saturdays and holidays when backlog occurs so lab turnaround times are met. Other Assigned Duties - as required by supervisor and/ or division chief.
Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm
