Position Summary:The Industry Teacher –
Business and Computers (AWS) will teach evening courses to non-degree
seeking students in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud Computing
programming typically on an evening schedule set by CWI Master
Scheduling. The CWI AWS courses take students from the Fundamentals of
IT to AWS Cloud Support Practitioner level in just 12 weeks. Through
real-world, scenario-based learning, labs, and coursework, learners
gain the skills they need for an entry-level cloud role. AWS courses
also provide learners with resume and interview coaching to prepare
for employer meetings and interviews.
A WD instructor will be
expected to effectively demonstrate support of program education;
provide a positive, supportive, and professional atmosphere for
students and instructors. In addition, the instructor will contribute
to the effectiveness and quality of the program; and provide
constructive, supportive behavioral feedback to improve the quality of
education and customer service.
Instructors teach assigned
classes in accordance with established policies and
guidelines.
• Deliver the approved course of study as
outlined in the syllabus, maintaining a student-oriented approach to
education.
• Topics taught may include one or more of the
following: AWS Academy Cloud Foundations (in preparation for the AWS
Cloud Practitioner exam), AWS Academy Cloud Architecture (in
preparation for the AWS Certified Solutions Architect- Associate
exam), AWS Academy Cloud Development (in preparation for the AWS
Certified Developer- Associate exam), AWS Academy Cloud Operations (in
preparation for the AWS Certified SysOps Administrator- Associate
exam)
• Prepare and/or gather current instructional materials and
equipment and use available technological equipment and methods for
delivery.
• Provide individual and group instruction.
•
Implement & evaluate new instructional technologies.
• Evaluate
student learning and teaching effectiveness through written, oral,
practical and/or performance testing.
• Provide frequent feedback
to students regarding individual progress in each course.
• Manage
and supervise students in all assigned classroom and laboratory
activities.
• Maintain discipline in the classroom and
laboratory.
• Attend and participate in scheduled meetings.
•
Maintain current knowledge of technology in the field.
• 1 - 3 years of
experience with AWS applications environment. Experience teaching AWS
preferred.
• Must have the AWS certification for the class in
which you are teaching. For instance, you must have the AWS Certified
Developer certification to teach the AWS Academy Cloud Development
course. You must also work through AWS to become a certified AWS
instructor prior to being authorized to teach AWS Academy courses.
Teaching certification may be provided by CWI on a case-by-case
basis
• Enthusiasm for and interest in excellence for the delivery
of online learning, with a commitment to Student Success.

Experience with traditional face-to-face, hybrid and online courses
and the ability to use the College of Western Idaho’s Learning
Management System (Blackboard) as well as technology-enhanced
curriculum. Access to home internet, a personal computer, and a
telephone are required.

Technology training needs
• Knowledge of adult learning
methodology
• Ability to demonstrate commitment to professional
growth and development
• Proficiency in usage of internet, email,
word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software
applications
• Demonstrates skill and willingness to learn and use
multiple technology platforms to communicate with students.

Experience using evidence-based strategies to support student success
including frequent communication and active learning.
