The Solar Panel Installers installs solar photovoltaic (PV) systems on the roofs, sides or near homes and businesses to convert the sun’s power to electricity. Most of your work as a solar panel installer will be outdoors and at height.

Responsibilities:

· The solar panel installer configures, installs, and maintains solar PV system for customer.

· They assess the environment, detect, and mitigate any hazards associated with installation.

· They will plan out where everything will go, and then place components according to those diagrams.

· They seal the system against weather, using safety codes, and manufacturer specifications.

· They label, install, and terminate electrical wiring.

· They test the system, measure grounding systems, and adjust the controls as needed.

Knowledge:

• Assessing locations to ensure they are suitable for solar panels

• Measuring up areas for installation

• Adjusting building surfaces so panels fit and are adequately supported
n
• Installing and maintaining solar panels on homes, business premises or open land
n
• Connecting solar panels to an electrical system
n
• Grounding electrical equipment and checking wiring
n
• Adhering to strict health and safety guidelines
n
• Performing maintenance checks and fixing solar panels
n

Qualifications

· High school diploma.

· Knowledge of basics of designing and installing PV systems and possible training for certification as a solar panel installer, preferred

· Experience through an apprenticeship, acceptable.
