The Island Technical Operations Manager is responsible for the implementation and monitoring of technical aspects of the Company’s Island facilities. You will assist the Island Senior Maintenance Manager in all aspects of technical maintenance and operations including maintenance team personnel development aspects. Ensure that all assigned Island technical systems, heavy machinery, land vehicles and watercraft are maintained and operated to the highest standards. Assist in the development and planning of key island asset maintenance periods in line with the vessels planned operational profile. Assist in the appointment and management of subcontractors to deliver contracted maintenance and repairs on time and within approved budgets. Review, adjust and introduce procedures and work instructions for areas of responsibility. Ensure proper record keeping is maintained to meet company and Bahamian regulatory compliance. Be actively involved in all Island Safety, Security, Environmental and Energy efficiency discussions and projects.    

What You Will Do
  • Oversee all technical maintenance elements associated with the operational readiness of Castaway Cay and Lighthouse Point, ensuring correct reporting and recording is conducted within in company approved maintenance system – AMOS.

  • Ensure that preventive and corrective maintenance is undertaken in line with AMOS scheduling, sourcing and providing external vendor assistance as required.

  • Assist with management of the assigned departmental budgets within area of responsibility, ensuring highest levels of technical equipment readiness and Show Quality Standards are maintained.

  • Conduct remote weekly maintenance meetings with the Island Senior Maintenance Manager. 

  • Plan, initiate, monitor and ensure timely completion of Capital Projects as assigned, ensuring correct documentation and records are obtained and retained within the AMOS electronic storage system. 

  • In collaboration with DCL recruiting partners, identify and interview suitable technical personnel as part of the talent hiring process for Island open technical positions.

  • Manage maintenance department operational and technical standards for Island facilities.

  • Oversee and maintain consistent regulatory compliance for technical operation elements, working with Company and Governmental agencies in an open and transparent manner.

  • Partner with Marine & Technical Operations Safety and Security partners in maintaining Island services and operations in strict adherence with Company SMS requirements.

  • In association with Disney Cruise Line Compliance team attend and provide Marine & Technical Operations on-island oversight during WDW Audit processes.

  • Monitor current pollution and environmental protection initiatives employed and maintained by the Maintenance, implementing new systems and arrangements as necessary to achieve highest level of compliance.

  • Lead the implementation of the general safety management in accordance with Safety Management System.

  • Conduct regular on-Island visits to verify performance of the Island Maintenance team, working in partnership with the Island Directed to identify possible improvement and enhancements to processes and procedures and manpower.

  • Be an active participant in all scheduled meetings relating to Safety, Security Environment and Sanitation. 

  • Undertake additional tasks and projects as assigned by the Executive Director, Marine Technical Operations. 

Required Qualifications & Skills
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a project management related role.

  • Basic knowledge of power generation and distribution, water production and waste water treatment plants.

  • Knowledge and experience in the use of computer base planned maintenance systems.

  • Knowledgeable and efficient with the use of computers and related technology.

  • Willing to travel and conduct island-based business for periods up to four weeks.   

Preferred Qualifications
  • Technical knowledge and experience with ocean going watercraft beneficial but not essential.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marine/Civil Engineering preferred
