Job Description / Essential Elements:

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Under the direction and supervision of the District nurse. Coordinates the daily operations of a School Health Office; assists and administers first aid to ill or injured students; performs a variety of clerical duties relating to student health care and health records.

Coordinates the daily care of severely handicapped students who need one-to-one nursing care services as designated by students' medical care providers through primary care physicians' written orders; performs a variety of clerical duties relating to student health care and health records. This position is coordinated through the Special Education Department and monitored by the school nurse.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: Completion of formal or informal education sufficient to possess the skills, knowledge, and abilities established for the position; completion of a training program in Vocational Nursing.

EXPERIENCE: Six (6) months experience working as a Licensed Vocational Nurse. Experience working with school age children desirable.

OTHER: Current license as a Vocational Nurse in California. Possession of a valid First Aid and CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) Certification. Must have valid california Dirver's License and reliable transportation. You must bring in the original documents to be copied at the HR Office

POSITION INFORMATION:
We anticipate at least one vacancy which may be filled as a result of this examination. Positions are typically 9 months a year, 6.5 hours a day.

EXAMINATION INFORMATION:
The examination process for this recruitment may, at the discretion of the Human Resource Department, be comprised of one or any combination of the following: a "paper screening" of the applicant's training, background and experience as listed on the basic application and/or resume; evaluation of responses on a supplemental application; a written examination; an oral examination; a performance or assessment center examination.

INFORMATION FOR APPLICANTS

APPLICATION PROCEDURES: Application forms may be obtained from the EUSD website at Applications submitted by facsimile (FAX) will be accepted only subject to receipt of the official application forms. Resumes are not accepted in place of completed application forms. Completed applications must be received no later than 4:00 p.m. on the deadline date listed on the front of this bulletin. Neither the Eastside Union School District nor the Human Resource Department shall assume responsibility for late notice, delays, or non-delivery due to mail service.

DISABILITY ACCOMMODATION: By law, we are not permitted to ask if an applicant has a protected disability. If an applicant requires special accommodation on one or more of the test parts, they must contact the Human Resource Department no later than 72 hours before the examination, so that accommodation can be arranged to meet their needs.

SELECTION PROCEDURES: Applications will be reviewed and evaluated in accordance with the requirements set forth. The term "recent" when used in the requirements normally refers to training and/or experience obtained within the ten-year period immediately prior to the last day for filing applications. Applications can be considered only if they clearly indicate that the requirements are met. All applications accepted at the time of filing are subject to further review and verification and may be rejected at any time if the published requirements for admission to the examination are not met. All applicants will be notified in writing as to the results of this review, as well as the final status once the examination process is completed.

The Personnel Commission reserves the right to invite the top 20% of qualified applicants to the examination process. Examinations may consist of a written, and/or performance test, an evaluation of training and experience, an oral examination or interview, or any other combination of tests as determined by the Human Resource Deprtment. Applicants will be notified by the United States mail of the time and place of the examination. No late arrivals will be admitted to the examination and no alternate times will be made. Applicants must receive a score of 70% or better for each part of the examination process, with an overall score of at least 70% for the entire examination process in order to be placed on the eligibility list. No candidate may compete in an examination for the same class more than once every three months, unless otherwise stated.

ELIGIBILITY LISTS: Candidates who attain an overall passing score on the examination will be placed in rank order on the eligibility list. Candidate's scores will be rounded to the nearest whole percent and may be merged with an existing list, if applicable. Eligibility lists are established for the period of one (1) year unless otherwise indicated. Your name will remain on the list until you are hired or decline, fail to report (or a combination) to three interview opportunities.

It is the candidate's responsibility to notify the Human Resource Department of any changes in name, address or telephone numbers.

All employment offers are conditional, based upon the successful completion of the following:

Fingerprinting/conviction clearance, medical examination, and a test for tuberculosis. Appointment to the class shall normally result in a probationary period of one hundred thirty (130) days of paid service, during which an employee must demonstrate an overall satisfactory performance.

- Ventilator certified
- Insulin administration along with carb counting
- Tracheotomy suctioning experience
- G-tube experience
- Catheterization experience
- Proper mechanics for transferring patient from wheel chair to cot (Hoyer lift)
