Our client is a large, privately held manufacturer in the Greater Grand Rapids area. They are an industry-leader in manufacturing residential and commercial products and looking for an experienced Materials Planner to join their team and make an immediate impact!


About the Role:

As a Materials Planner, you will become a cornerstone of the manufacturing and supply chain operations, ensuring that our production teams have the materials they need, when they need them, to produce the innovative products they're known for globally. This role is more than just procurement; it's about creating and maintaining a seamless flow of materials that matches the production goals.


In this position, you'll be entrusted with the responsibility of balancing cost, quality, and efficiency to optimize inventory levels and maintain the highest standards of production continuity. Your strategic planning will directly influence the efficiency of the supply chain, impacting our overall operational success. You will work closely with various departments, including procurement, production, quality control, and logistics, to build a resilient supply chain capable of withstanding the complexities of global manufacturing demands.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive material procurement strategies to meet production schedules.
  • Collaborate with the production and procurement teams to forecast demand and identify potential material shortages.
  • Maintain and update inventory records, ensuring accuracy and readiness for production.
  • Coordinate with logistics to ensure timely delivery of materials, addressing any delays or discrepancies immediately.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimize the supply chain process, reduce costs, and improve efficiency.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on material availability, inventory levels, and procurement status to management.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • At least 2-3 years of experience in material planning, procurement, or a related role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain operations, including inventory management, procurement, and logistics.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
