Full Job Description

Lara Health is currently in search of an experienced Medical Assistant for our virtual patient care program. You will be joining a wonderful team of lovely MAs and nurses who provide preventative care and support to patients between their doctor visits and support a local PCP with their patient services.  This is a full time position (min 30 hours a week). Must be based within Merrillville, IN 46410 regon.

COMPENSATION: $20/hour plus performace bonuses, contract 


THIS IS A FULLY REMOTE POSTION (WORK FROM HOME) WITH SOME LOCAL TRAVEL REQUIRED. THERE IS SOME FLEXIBILITY ON THE WORKING HOURS. MIN 5 YEAR EXPERIENCE IN CARING FOR CHRONIC CONDITION PATIENTS IN REQUIRED (PREFFERABLY IN PRIMARY CARE/DIABETES/CARDIOLOGY). 

Join us for the chance to be part of an amazing team and a great place to work! The Medical Assistant supports providers with ongoing patient monitoring and chronic care management, with the following duties: 

● Responsible for monitoring patient blood pressure, blood sugar, and other vitals, helping them with meds, MD visits etc.

● Communicate with patients (VIA PHONE AND TEXT) on regular basis, helping them make lifestyle changes in order to improve their long term health 

●  Ocassionally travel to the pt home to perform test or draw blood etc.

● Maintain patient electronic medical record (EMR) and performs other duties as assigned. 

Specific skills and experience required: 

● Passion for working with (older) patients, customer service skills 

● Min 5 years experience as MA or nurse

● Preventative patient care background preffered, experience in primary care, cardiology or diabetes clinic highly desired 

● Work independently and with a team 

● Organizational and time management skills 

● Computer skills appropriate to position, you will need your own computer and a reliable internet service

● Written and verbal communication skills, administrative and clerical skills, critical thinking 

● Medical terminology use and understanding 

Certification & Licensure mandatory: 

● Approved Medical Assistant Certification required 

● Or EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) 

● Or NREMT (Nationally Recognized Emergency Medical Technician); 

● Or Paramedic 

● Or LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) 

Education:

● Required High School or Equivalent 

● Preferred Technical Medical Assistant

This position would be ideal for someone looking to work intensively with patients and who is well organized and able to commit to a min 30 hours a week. Most of your work in phone based, talking to patients during the day so you need to be very communicative, with a suitable place to work. Approx 10% of the time is required to travel to the pt home.
