Job Description:

Position Summary: The Optical Lab Technician will be responsible for operating equipment including CNC, surfacing RX lenses, button grinding, and cutting machinery for the manufacturing of surgical loupes and coaxial headlights with superior magnification and resolution for healthcare clinicians.  Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Under direct supervision, follows work instructions when assembling and manufacturing sub-components of surgical loupes per customer specifications through the utilization of machinery, fixtures, and at times hand tools.
  • Sets up machinery and fixtures per work instructions to ensure quality products.
  • Performs quality checks via visual inspection and testing equipment to avoid rework and scrapping of product/material.
  • Immediately reports productivity and quality concerns to the appropriate personnel.
  • Reports damaged material, tooling, and/or machinery to the appropriate personnel for prompt repair or replacement.
  • Adheres to all company policies and procedures including safety and quality.
  • Reads, comprehends, and complies with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Manufacturing Instructions (MIs).
  • Participates in continuous improvement activities through the Envista Business System (EBS) including Kaizens, 5S events, Standard Work workshops, Kanban, and Kamishibai.

Qualifications:   Education and Experience:
  • High school or equivalent preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to read and interpret schematic and CAD drawings required.
  • High attention to detail and patience required.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail required.
  • Good hand dexterity to assemble small components with magnifying lenses and microscopes required.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to read and interpret written instructions in English.
  • Basic computer skills and math skills required.
  • Ability to multitask required.
  • Familiar with good documentation practices highly preferred.
Physical Demands: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
  • Constantly uses hands and fingers to perform fine adjustments.
  • Occasionally reaches up/down with arms. 
  • Occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 20 lbs.

Target Market Salary Range:

Actual compensation packages take into account a wide range of factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to geographic location; skill sets; relevant education and certifications; depth of experience; performance; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed reasonable estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.  At Envista, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The total compensation package for this position may also include an annual performance bonus, medical/dental/vision benefits, 401K match, and/or other applicable compensation plans.

$13.50 - $20.10 per hour
