The Personal Computer Support Tech provides support to distributed PC/networking environments including installation, testing, repair, and troubleshooting for stand-alone PCs, PCs linked to networks, printers, and other computer peripherals. Support responsibilities include software installation, and configurations. The PCST performs technical, operational, and training support to users of personal computers either by telephone, or on-site for PC desktop hardware and software packages. Job duties require the technician to install and test personal computers, printers, and other peripherals, configure operating system, and load shrink-wrap programs and other application software programs. The PCST also troubleshoots computer problems, performs hardware and software diagnostics, coordinates needed repairs, resolves computer system problems, including coordination between users and components of a local area network, and participates in the evaluation of system configuration and software.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Typically fulfills all of the following duties within the Base Supply contract:
AF Client Support Technician (CST), AF Information Technology Equipment Custodians (ITEC), Integrated Logistics System Supply (ILS-S) Information Owner (IO), and website content manager. Must have and maintain DOD 8570 Information Assurance Technician Level I (IAT I), IA baseline certification and relevant Computing Environment (CE) Certification within six months of new CE changes.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
· Familiarity with Air Force 33 series and DOD directives governing AF network operations.
· Knowledge or experience regarding AF Active Directory, SharePoint administration, and Remedy Ticket processes.
· Advanced computer troubleshooting and problem solving skills, as well as comprehensive working knowledge of Microsoft Server and Windows OS, MS SharePoint and Adobe Acrobat.
· Significant experience in Air Force Systems Management or Network Support.
· Ability to analyze and plan for organization’s IT requirements and implement strategies accordingly. Find solutions to IT related issues that help the organization operate more efficiently and effectively. Make recommendations to Program Manager and Government for upgrades and required changes.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Must either
have an Associate’s Degree or higher, or be a high school graduate
with a minimum of two years of experience in the information
technology computer support field.
· Must have and maintain
current CompTIA A+ or higher Certification in accordance with DOD 8570
policy.
· Ability to communicate using the English language.
·
Must be able to pass a drug test and have, or be able to obtain a DoD
National Agency Check Investigation (NACI) Secret Security
Clearance.
· Ability to safeguard all government
property/facilities and provide adequate resource protection to
prevent contamination, pilferage, sabotage and accidental damage,
including controller used controlled forms.
· Must not pose a
potential threat to the health, safety, security and general well
being or operational mission of the installation and its
population.
· Present a neat, clean and professional appearance at
all times, unless precluded by assigned work.
· Not an employee of
the United States Government if employment will create a conflict of
interest. Not an employee of the Department of the Air Force without
approval IAW DoD 5500.7-R (Joint Ethics Regulation) or the Department
of Defense if such employment would be contrary to policies contained
in AFI64-106 (AF Industrial Labor Relations Activities).
· Ability to take initiative and be tenacious in completing routine duties as well as resolving novel challenges; analyze, research, find and follow-through with solutions, and document key steps.
· Experience as a self-starter who takes initiative in problem resolution, and follow-through for non-routine issues.
· Strong knowledge and experience with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office Suite.
