Job Description

This position will be responsible for remote support and troubleshooting automation systems for pharmaceutical aseptic filling machines and production packaging lines.

Systems will be PLC, SCADA, and PC-based. Able to perform system administration (access control, software revision control, backup and recovery), and troubleshooting for malfunctioning systems.

Individuals must be capable of reading and understanding control panel wiring diagrams and mechanical drawings. The individual must also have a knowledge of PLC programming (Siemens, Jetter, Allen-Bradley).

As a specialist in technical support, you are part of a global team for 24/7 customer support.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Processing and solving technically complex customer complaints worldwide and interculturally
  • Document in detail the problem-solving process and report updates and solutions.
  • Analysis of malfunctions and troubleshooting for the entire machine range of complex systems
  • Provide remote electrical, mechanical, and automation support for Bausch+Stroebel machines
  • Work closely with the technical support team in Germany to ensure prompt support for our customers while making sure documentation and change processes are followed
  • Service visits at the customer's site are possible during the training phase

FLSA STATUS:

Non-exempt position – Non-exempt employees will receive overtime pay at 1.5 times the calculated hourly rate for time worked in excess of 8 hours per day hours and any weekend on-call hours worked.

HOURS of WORK :

Regular in-office hours:

Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and 12:30 pm to 4:30 pm.

On-call hours from home office (flat on-call rate per day + OT for hours worked):

Monday through Friday, 4:30 pm to 12:00 am (rotating schedule)

LOCATION:

This position is located at our US headquarters in Branford, CT

TRAVEL:

This position requires periodic visits to our German headquarters for training.

Qualifications
  • Knowledge of PLC programming (Siemens, Jetter, Allen-Bradley)
  • Understand PLC-based controllers and functionality
  • Background as an automation engineer or comparable knowledge and skills
  • Ability to read and understand electrical control system diagrams (control panel wiring diagrams and panel layout drawings).
  • Flexibility as well as contractual commitment to a working time model for technical support
  • Independent, responsible, and structured
  • Posses team spirit as well as solution and customer orientation
  • Good communication skills
  • Understanding of 21 CFR Part 11, cGAMP, and other regulatory guidance associated with computer / automation-based systems would be preferred.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline, with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience performing automation and controls activities or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Understanding and feedback of Input / Output control sequence. Understanding of PLC logic, control loops, and sequencing.
  • A basic understanding of sequel servers and databases as well as networking is preferred.
  • Ideally, strong knowledge of Allen Bradley Rockwell and Siemens PLC systems is required.
