Overview:
The Powder Coating Process
Engineer is responsible for supporting and improving current and new
powder coating operations. This person will be successful by
implementing industry best practices and creative solutions that
support the business and improve the quality and throughput. Working
closely with operations as well new facility teams, this engineer will
make creative and strategic solutions to support a rapidly growing
business.

Responsibilities:
- Technical lead for multiple powder coating processes over multiple sites with experience in increasing production rates with high quality standards
- Lead the implementation and strategic direction of current powder coating line as well as in a new facility.
- Installation of vision systems for in-line Quality control.
- Create technical proposals and meet project deadlines.
- Dissemination of technical information to drive actionable business strategies.
- Drive creative solutions from staging to part presentation in assembly.
- Implement Statistical Process Control and establish new company standards.
- Execute preventive maintenance strategies to increase production uptime.
- Create department and equipment layouts, optimizing efficiency and reducing waste.
- Drive process improvements and product quality based on statistical analysis.
- Make key decisions to keep projects on schedule.
- Determine parts, tools, and equipment needed to achieve manufacturing goals.
- Work cross-functionally to propose and lead creative solutions.
- Manages multiple projects in a fast paced environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical, Material Science, Mechanical Engineering is required
- 4+ years of work experience in a high volume manufacturing environment is required
- 4+ years experience as a process owner of powder coating processes
- Experience with purchasing capital equipment and supporting production start-up is required
- Experience with batch and continuous coating processes
- Experience with determining optimal floor layouts
- Understanding PLC logic to optimize throughput, quality and throughput
- Must have lean training and the ability to utilize lean tools in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of quality systems and statistical process controls
- Needs to be mechanically inclined and be able to help diagnose issues with equipment
- Data driven and analytical. Finding solutions by understanding data and being detail oriented
- Must have a ‘hands on’ mentality and the ability to work well with production team members
