Full Job Description

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Working knowledge of and interest in local government organizational structure, budgeting / reporting, infrastructure funding, and types of services they provide is required
  • Working knowledge and understanding of federal funding programs and policies and state funding programs and policies in targeted geographies including California and Texas
  • Proficiency with PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat Pro and other business systems required
  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills
  • Capable of presenting/sharing analyses in an interactive work setting while being able to make adjustments in a live setting
  • Self-starter capable of efficiently and proactively working independently as well as with a geographically dispersed team on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Management experience and the ability to directly manage staff and to manage large and diverse project teams to deliver client projects
  • Strong sense of Team
  • Willing to travel as needed
  • In the first year, travel may be up to 25%

  • 10 years total post-undergraduate working experience in consulting related to infrastructure funding, economics, pricing, financial analysis and working for local government agencies in these areas:
  • Knowledge of and experience with funding, infrastructure policy, and legal requirements in multiple states
  • Water infrastructure funding experience in California and Texas
  • Elements of project management experience, including preparing and managing project scope, schedule, team activities, communication, and deliverables
Responsibilities
  • Serve as a primary member of multiple teams at client meetings, including interactive use of analytical tools and facilitating workshops; as well as direct and train junior staff in these areas
  • In many cases, serve as the client account manager and project manager for client engagements, ensuring delivery of high-quality services on time and within budget
  • Work dynamically with project teams to identify best-fit solutions to complex business, strategic, infrastructure, and operational issues, that involve elevated risk
  • Lead the project team in interactive meetings with our clients to identify and analyze issues affecting their organizations and key stakeholders
  • Maintain and grow client relationships and lead business development efforts in responding to client requests, RFQs, and RFPs
  • Serve as an independent reviewer of analysis prepared by peers or junior staff to ensure technical accuracy and appropriateness of methods and tools being utilized as well as solutions being evaluated
  • Meet performance goals and objectives as assigned, with respect to client-specific demands, stated delivery milestones, quality standards, project management framework, mentoring of junior staff, and all required training activities
  • Analytical problem solvers: Top performers understand (or are capable of quickly learning) how different factors, variables, and policies result in corresponding financial impacts

Your Opportunity

This position is an external client facing position with our Management Consulting Team. As a Senior Manager, you will be supporting asset, organizational, financial, infrastructure funding, economic, and technology consulting services to local governments and utilities in North America.

Your Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:
• Serve as a primary member of multiple teams at client meetings, including interactive use of analytical tools and facilitating workshops; as well as direct and train junior staff in these areas.
• In many cases, serve as the client account manager and project manager for client engagements, ensuring delivery of high-quality services on time and within budget.
• Work dynamically with project teams to identify best-fit solutions to complex business, strategic, infrastructure, and operational issues, that involve elevated risk.
• Lead the project team in interactive meetings with our clients to identify and analyze issues affecting their organizations and key stakeholders.
• Maintain and grow client relationships and lead business development efforts in responding to client requests, RFQs, and RFPs.
• Serve as an independent reviewer of analysis prepared by peers or junior staff to ensure technical accuracy and appropriateness of methods and tools being utilized as well as solutions being evaluated.

Education And Experience
