We are looking for a Refinery Welder to perform welding tasks with a high level of quality and accuracy to support the safe and efficient maintenance of all processes and equipment under the control of the Refinery Maintenance Department. You must be a detail-oriented, results-driven individual with strong mechanical aptitude and a commitment to safety, quality, and precision. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, a strong commitment to operational excellence, and the ability to work in both a team environment and on self-directed tasks are required.Compensation DataSalary $48.98 hr.This is a union role. Wages are based on the collective bargaining agreement.ResponsibilitiesSelect equipment and plan layout, assembly, and welding in accordance with work plans, engineered drawings, Isometrics or as directed.Fabricate or Repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembleMark, cut, shape, and fit up material to prescribed measurements.Lay out, position, align, and fit components together including but not limited to pipe, pipe fittings, and structural steel.Perform welding operations to meet welding procedure specifications (WPS) in an efficient manner.Ensure that welds can pass NOE test requirements in accordance with ASME Codes.Maintain a clean shop and work area.Climb ladders and stairways to perform duties to heights of up to 200 feet.Perform work in confined areas/ spaces and/or out of position.Perform work in all weather conditions and various environments in shop and/or field.Perform work while wearing respirator.Lift and/or carry portable fire extinguishers weighing up to 50 pounds.Perform other duties needed or assigned.Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions orMinimum Qualifications (required)Minimum skill level of Silver on the Kansas WORKReady! Certificate or National Career Readiness Certificate. PLEASE NOTE - Certificate must be attached to application in order for candidate to be considered.High School Diploma or GED2+ years of piping related welding experienceSuccessful completion of a weld test on Carbon Steel and Stainless-Steel Pipe Coupon utilizing GTAW and SMAW ProceduresSuccessful completion of in-house written weld testAdditional QualificationsRelevant Degree or Certificate:Associates degree in Applied science or Metallurgy, with an emphasis on Welding, orEquivalent coursework in the field of Metallurgy or Welding, or Welding Certificate from an accredited institutionComputer experience with Windows based programsAbility to follow written procedures and verbal instructionsPhysical RequirementsAbility to wear PPE, including respiratorAbility to perform physical work in all weather conditionsAbility to climb ladders and work to heights of 200 feetAbility to lift and/or move up to 50 poundsAbility to talk and hearAbility to stand, sit, walk, climb, and balanceCHS offers a competitive total rewards package.
