Vincent Tractors & Plant is a successful family-owned business. Established in 1966 and now employing over 50 people across our four branches covering Cornwall, Devon and Somerset.We are the market leaders in agricultural, construction and groundcare products, holding the market leading Kubota franchise along with many other brands including Kverneland, Ktwo, Joskin, Grillo, Baroness, GreenMech, Nugent Trailers and Ausa.

Job Purpose:

Vincent Tractors & Plant’s success and ongoing growth means we are looking for Agricultural Machinery Salesperson to join our expanding business. Are you a dedicated, self-motivated salesperson with a passion for agriculture machinery sales?

You will play a vital part in managing and developing sales with an existing Kubota client base of farmers and contractors, and to target new sales opportunities. You will be charged with developing sustainable relationships with these partners which, in turn, will generate long term repeat business, as well as seeking out new partners and opportunities.

The ideal candidates will have experience in similar roles as an Agricultural Machinery Salesperson with a knowledge of agricultural machinery.

You should have good customer skills and be able to work independently and as part of a team.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Visit customers as well as cold calling to prospect for new business.
  • Advise, negotiate and conclude the sale, completing all appropriate paperwork and documentation in a timely manner e.g. service contracts, warranties etc.
  • Carry out machine demonstrations where necessary.
  • Advise customers when their order has been received and is ready for collection/delivery.
  • Safely install machines with the customer.
  • Set up and attend industry exhibitions and shows when required.

Secondary Responsibilities

These responsibilities are essential in a small business where all members of the team are required to work flexibly and help in all and any area during busy periods.

  • Keep confidential and company business or statistics.
  • To represent Vincent Tractors & Plant and promote its brand throughout all activities.
  • To undertake Health and Safety training as required.
  • Ability to work hours as required by the business.

Person Specification:

  • A good knowledge of the agricultural sector.
  • Experience of selling technically related agricultural products Ability to speak with all manner of customer.
  • Experience of building relationships with customers.
  • Experience of selling to end users or resellers.
  • Knowledge and understanding of intelligent farming practices.

Education/ Training

  • Four GSCE or equivalent, Maths and English, grade C or above.
  • Foundation Degree, HND or Degree.
  • Confident.
  • Keen to make the sale Ability to up sell.
  • Ability to pick up technical knowledge and apply it.
  • Self-motivated & able to use initiative.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills Attention to detail.
  • Flexible approach.
  • Neat, clean and tidy image Loyal and reliable.
  • Ability to work to deadline and to a high degree of accuracy.
  • Good IT Skills.
  • Friendly, smiling & interested in our customers.
  • Experience in our industry sector Experience of working within a close sales team.
  • Ability to tow trailers.

Additional factors

  • Willing to work additional hours as required. Extra hours before and after events. Evening functions and shows for example.
