The OHSU School of Nursing in Ashland is located on the Southern Oregon University campus, a nationally renowned liberal arts and science college located in the foothills of the Siskiyou Mountains. Ashland is 286 miles from Portland. This campus offers three programs: two to complete the Bachelor of Science with a Major in Nursing degree and a third to complete an Accelerated Bachelor to Master's program (Family Nurse Practitioner).
OHSU has three missions: healing, teaching, and discovery. In the School of Nursing, these focus to optimize health, prepare nurse leaders, and transform health care. Infusing these is a fourth: to become a trauma-informed and truly anti-racist institution. The School of Nursing has made the same commitment. The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach, and public service.
Faculty ranks are as follows:
- Lecturer (BSN or equivalent): $39.60 – $43.85 an hour
- Instructor (MSN or equivalent): $43.93 – $50.51 an hour
- Assistant Professor (MSN/DNP or equivalent): $47.01 – $63.57 an hour
Clinical Activities (not related to teaching or research ):
- Plans and supervises student lab and/or clinical experiences or practice based on teaching assignments.
Scholarly Activities (research/writing, abstracts, grant-supported work, presentations, etc.):
- Participates in scholarly activities based on faculty
rank.
- At the Assistant Professor rank or higher, faculty in the practice mission, demonstrates competence in an area of clinical expertise and engages in inquiry and scholarship that contributes to the practice of clinical practice.
- At the Assistant Professor rank or higher, faculty in the research mission advance a program of research, prepares grants and seek funding, and engage with other missions to foster inquiry within the SON.
Education Activities (include types of teaching and types of students taught ):
- Provides effective didactic instruction based on teaching assignments using appropriate instructional technologies to ensure that course outcomes are met.
- Participates collaboratively in the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum.
- Mentors and advises students.
- Faculty in the doctoral program supervise
students in dissertation and/or clinical inquiry projects.
Service Activities
- These activities could include faculty meetings, committee membership, professional activities, and other responsibilities as assigned by the Program or Academic Director.
- Participates in faculty
governance; additional engagement based on rank.
Administrative Activities
- As
negotiated.
Other Activities
- The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach, and public service.
Education (Degree dependent on academic program type and rank of position.):
- Lecturer: BSN or equivalent
- Instructor: MSN or equivalent
- Assistant Professor: Ph.D./DNP or equivalent
Registrations, Certifications, and/or Licenses (Current licensure & certifications could be required depending on position and academic program.) :
- Oregon RN license
- BLS certification from the
American Heart Association (AHA)
Experience (Experience dependent on academic program type and rank of position.) :
- Teaching experience at the baccalaureate level or higher preferred.
