Full Job Description
We’re seeking a Board Certified Pediatric Nephrologist to serve as
Section Head, Pediatric Nephrology at
Ochsner Children’s Hospital in New Orleans, the #1 ranked
children’s hospital in Louisiana by U.S. News & World Report.
The successful candidate will be an integral part of
creating a comprehensive pediatric kidney care program within
Ochsner’s Health’s regional health system, the largest not-for-profit
academic health system in the Gulf South. Ochsner Children’s
Hospital has also recently announced their expansion with the building
of a new separate, comprehensive and dedicated children’s hospital on
the Ochsner main campus expected to open in 2027. In
addition, we are seeing Board Certified and Board Eligible
Pediatric Nephrologists to join the Section.Key
responsibilities of this position include:Clinical Care
- Provide inpatient and outpatient kidney care for
children with acute, chronic and end-stage renal disease.
- Partner with medical and surgical colleagues to serve
children with complex conditions in multidisciplinary programs.
Program Development - Opportunity for
qualified candidates to develop a pediatric kidney transplant program
to complement existing pediatric liver, heart, and bone marrow
transplant programs.
Teaching and Research
- Teach medical students, residents, and allied health
students.
- Clinical and translational research opportunities
abound for qualified candidates.
- Academic appointment
commensurate with experience.
The team currently cares for
patients in an expanding 54-bed Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit,
a 14-bed PICU, a 12-bed pediatric CV-ICU, and a 44-bed pediatric acute
unit, with a dedicated pediatric emergency room, and full-time,
region-wide, in-house pediatric and neonatal transport teams.In
addition to patient care, faculty are involved in teaching residents
in the Ochsner Surgery and Pediatrics Residency program as well as
medical students from the University of Queensland. Ochsner Health and
Xavier University of Louisiana also recently announced an agreement to
establish a joint College of Medicine.
