FLSA Designation: Non-Exempt (Hourly)

Directly Reports To: Director of Grounds Maintenance


Position Summary

We are seeking dynamic and hard-working individuals with a passion for golf to be involved in all aspects of golf course maintenance and work with existing team members and management. The position is designed to help the candidate advance their career in turf. Specific duties include, but are not limited to; hand watering greens, fertilizer and chemical applications, equipment operation, and leading small groups to accomplish maintenance and construction goals. Candidate must have completed a 2/4-year turf program, degree in a related field or have equivalent work experience. We are looking for candidates who posses a positive attitude and a willingness to work. A basic knowledge of Spanish is a plus but not required

Requirements

Position Responsibilities

· The senior agronomist is expected to learn and develop exceptional turf maintenance skills and participate in all aspects of the facility

· Mentors and training are provided daily by the professional team ensuring successful growth for interns

· Strong working knowledge of the game and rules of golf

· Conduct oneself in a professional manner 

· Fundamental knowledge and passion for turf maintenance

· Directly involved with the daily golf operations with concentration on the following job duties:  hand watering greens, fertilizer and chemical applications, equipment operation, and leading small groups to accomplish maintenance and construction goals

· Assist in the coordination of turf maintenance with other departments

· Remain current with turf trends and other turf certifications that may add value to the operation

· Maintain a clean and orderly work area

· Other duties may be assigned by management

· Days and hours of work vary by schedule and business needs


Qualification Standards

Specific Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities:

· Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.

· Excellent customer service orientation and a focus on customer satisfaction is required

· Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written

· Ability to interact with employees, members, and guests in a positive way


Education

Completion of a 2/4 year turf program 


Experience

· Previous grounds maintenance experience preferred


Physical Demands

· Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours in length

· Must be able to exert well-paced ability to maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously

· Must be able to exert well-paced ability to reach other areas within the club on a timely basis

· Must be able to lift and carry heavy items around 30-50 lbs. 

· Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill disinfecting tasks

· Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.

· Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with members, guests and supervisors

· Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception

· Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment


Compensation

$20-23/ hour
