The Yahoo Mail engineering team provides opportunities to work on challenges that are as exciting as the Yahoo Mail product itself at the scale that only a handful of companies can match. With Yahoo being private again, it's a very exciting time to make a new history! We are transforming our business by migrating our technical stack to cloud (GCP). 
 

The Mail Intelligence team in Yahoo Mail powers all the smart features which help our users manage their Business of Life. The team works with the latest ML/AI technologies, handles big data, builds systems which perform at large scale. 

Responsibilities: 

• Senior IC  capable of solving open ended problems (design, develop, ship and maintain)

• Review and provide feedback on your team members work (designs and code)

• Develop proof of concept, do external research, brainstorm, propose new ideas, design 

• Identify risks in the requirements in your work and others

• Identify dependencies across teams and surface them

• Be proactive, take initiative to identify and fix issues before being assigned

• Collaborate within team and adjacent teams and partners

• Mentor junior engineers

• 5+ years Software development experience with 2+ years experience as a Senior Engineer 

• Expertise in distributed software systems such as stream/batch processing, highly scalable serving systems 

• Proven experience building software systems which are highly scalable and performant 

• Good collaborator and communicator , enjoys helping and mentoring others  

• Experience with cloud native application development in GCP using Data Flow, Apache Beam, PubSub, Spanner etc

• Understanding of other disciplines such as Production Engineering, DevOps, Front End, Product management, UX Design

• Proficiency in Java programming language and related technologies/frameworks, (e.g., Spring Boot, Hibernate, Maven/Gradle).

• Knowledge of RESTful web services and microservices architecture.

 

Preferred:

• B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or a related field

• Passionate about and practical knowledge of working with Big data, AI/ML

The compensation for this position ranges from $128,250.00 - $266,875.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, in addition to equity incentives.
