Senior Chemical Sensor Engineer

Our team is working on state-of-the-art technologies for healthcare diagnostics and has an opening for a senior scientist to develop new sensing technologies. While a broad range of expertise will be considered, a candidate should have technical expertise in areas such as nanoparticle synthesis, conjugation chemistry, colorimetric chemistry for biological sensing, electronic-based biosensors, etc. (though a range of backgrounds will be considered). Our small, high-caliber team is designed to enable rapid progress to take novel ideas to market, and thus this role requires a high-achieving individual who is self-motivated and driven. Serious candidates should describe prior research and development expertise in their cover letter, with descriptions of the types of technologies and processes they have familiarity with. This candidate will have a leadership role in the team, helping to manage and oversee day-to-day progress as well as longer-term strategy and planning.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead experimental development of novel diagnostic tests, with a particular focus on chemical engineering, synthesis, and optimization
  • Lead the design, fabrication, testing, and validation of next-generation sensing technologies, particularly focused on fluidic and gas sensing.
  • Perform experimentation as well as lead others to advance new tests from conception to reality

Minimum Qualifications

  • PhD in a related technical field (bioengineering, chemistry, etc.), or a similar 5+ years of relevant work experience in advanced research and development supporting fast-paced development efforts in a related technical area
  • Broad technical expertise, ideally with prior research and development efforts in healthcare diagnostics and/or chemical engineering. Prior expertise with electronics with be helpful, though not required.
  • Significant prior research experience and technical expertise in sensing technologies, ideally with prior expertise in fluidic or gas sensing.
  • Programming experience (Python, MATLAB, C, etc.)
