  • This internship program will begin Monday June 3rd and will end Friday, August 9th. The pay is $16-$17 an hour and the position is expected to be full-time over those 10 weeks. This will be a hybrid internship with mandatory in person sessions that are part of the program once a week. 

    About Emerging Professionals Summer Internship Program (EPSIP) at UMass Chan Medical School  

    The Emerging Professionals Summer Internship Program (EPSIP) is a paid internship experience for talented college students.  Individuals historically underrepresented in STEM, health science and medicine are strongly encouraged to apply. Priority will be given to students that identify from one of the following underrepresented groups in STEM, health science and medicine:  Black/African Americans, Hispanic or Latinx, American Indian or Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian, and other Pacific Islanders, individuals with a disability or the first in their family to attend college, are also strongly encourage to apply.

    General Summary of Position  

    Under the direct supervision of the assigned manager, the Undergraduate Intern is responsible for project-based tasks to support a designated department. These tasks may be administrative or research oriented, depending on the department. Assigned projects will require basic analytical and communications skills. Specific job responsibilities will vary by department but may include information market research, gathering data, writing, and/or editing. This is a temporary, non-benefitted role.

    Responsibilities
    • Assist assigned manager in day-to-day administrative responsibilities.
    • Coordinate and perform advanced administrative tasks.
    • Conduct more complex research to assist team members.
    • Assist with the preparation of data for projects and studies; compile statistics as required or requested.
    • File, retrieve, collect, organize, manage, and distribute information from diverse internal and external sources.
    • Perform assigned project tasks within specified timeframes.
    • Conducting basic marketing functions.
    • Coordinate social media efforts across multiple platforms.
    • Interface with web development to maintain web presence for department.
    • Interface with instructional design staff in maintenance and updates to instructional design materials and courses.
    • Work with Learning Management System (LMS) staff in management/maintenance of training course shells, departments, etc.
    • Perform complex library searches, reading and copying relevant materials.
    • Perform statistical analysis of data, genetic analysis and/or clinical studies.
    • Perform data entry.
    • Perform other duties as required.
    Qualifications

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    Bachelor's degree candidate 

    Basic analytical and communication skillsAttention to detail with the ability to collect and record information from a wide variety of sourcesAbility to use standard office tools and software (MSOffice)Must be reliable and able to set consistent work hours

    Must be a college student currently enrolled in a 2 or 4 year program or recent college graduate within 2 years.
