Overview / Job Summary:
We
are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Part-Time Unmanned
Aircraft Systems (UAS) Flight Instructor to join our team on an
on-call basis. As a UAS Flight Instructor, you will be responsible for
providing expert guidance and instruction to aspiring drone operators,
ensuring their safe and efficient operation of unmanned aerial
vehicles.
Your day-to-day
responsibilities will vary, but are not limited to:
- Conduct comprehensive training sessions, both theoretical and practical, to educate students on the principles of UAS operation, flight planning, safety protocols, and regulations.
- Assess students' flying capabilities, identifying strengths and areas for improvement, and provide constructive feedback to enhance their skills.
- Emphasize and enforce adherence to all safety guidelines and regulations governing UAS operations, both during training sessions and in real-world scenarios.
- Be available on an on-call basis to cater to individual student needs or specific training requests, accommodating varying schedules and ensuring timely and flexible instruction delivery.
- Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of training drones and related equipment to ensure they are in optimal condition for instructional purposes.
As the UAS Flight Instructor, we expect the applicant to stay current with industry updates in UAS technology, regulations, and best practices to incorporate cutting-edge knowledge into training sessions. Additionally, maintain comprehensive records of student progress, achievements, and areas for improvement, providing regular updates to both students and management.
Education, Experience, Knowledge & Skills Needed:
- Expertise in UAS Operations:
- Demonstrated proficiency in operating a wide range of unmanned aircraft systems, with a comprehensive understanding of drone technologies, flight dynamics, and operational limitations.
- Certification and Licensure:
- Possess FAA Part 107 License prior to starting work. Must keep it current to provide instruction.
- Flight Time Logged:
- Documented flight hours exceeding 50 hours. (Preferred)
- Safety Conscious:
- Strong commitment to safety and an exemplary safety record in UAS operations.
- Communication Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to deliver clear and engaging instructions to students and interact effectively with colleagues and management.
- Professionalism:
- A professional and approachable demeanor with a strong focus on student success and learning outcomes.
