**Job Description**
The purpose of this position is to perform the role of a lead engineering technician on a large, highly complex task force. This requires comprehensive knowledge of multiple engineering disciplines. This position has the responsibility of supervising the tasks and development of lower level technicians and aides.
- Perform diverse and complex engineering assignments including, but not limited to space planning, mobilizations, action items, producing data sheets, and drafting engineering specifications and standards
- Interface with other discipline technicians to provide complete engineering support
- Develop procedure to track status on engineering progress
- Generate and process forms for the distribution of electronic engineering documents
- Establish and apply documentation standards for Flow Diagram Change Notices (FDCN) workflow procedures
- Develop logs to track project deviations
- Serve as a Company representative to external clients
- Participate in Fluor University for training and career development
- Contribute to and promote the use of Fluor's knowledge management portals and communities
- Provide feedback on personnel performance and development
- Participate and facilitate department/project meetings and training
- Other duties as assigned
**Basic Job Requirements**
- Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and eight (8) years of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to twelve (12) years if non-degreed; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements
- Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
- Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
- Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
- Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner

**The Opportunity**
This opportunity with Black & Veatch offers the chance to collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams within the Power Providers Market Sector, supporting Advanced Power Generation (APG) projects and building critical infrastructure for today's and tomorrow's challenges. Electrical professionals contribute to power systems design, including duct bank design, cable tray design, grounding, lighting, and other electrical systems supporting advanced power generation facilities.
The Virtual Design & Data Solutions (VDDS) Senior Engineering Technician plays a key role in supporting the development of high‑quality engineering 2D/3D deliverables for these complex infrastructure projects. Under minimal supervision, this position performs technical tasks requiring advanced knowledge of electrical engineering principles and practices, with a focus on creating and modifying electrical design drawings using advanced techniques in industry‑standard design tools, such as Bentley MicroStation and other Bentley tools. Advanced knowledge of project budgets and schedules is required.
For lighting design, experience with AGI32 is preferred to support accurate modeling and illumination calculations across APG facilities.

**Key Responsibilities**
+ Functions as a senior engineering technician, technical design specialist, and/or supervisor
+ Applies advanced technical expertise to solve complex design challenges within a specific engineering discipline
+ Contributes to the development of innovative engineering solutions
+ Uses digital tools and design software (e.g., CAD, BIM, 3D modeling) with standardized procedures to create, modify, and maintain technical documentation, drawings, and project deliverables
+ Provides consultation, training, and oversight to other engineering technicians to ensure quality, consistency, and compliance with project standards
+ Establishes and communicates appropriate design and graphic standards
+ Reviews project requirements to determine correct formats and deliverable content
+ Promotes quality and consistency across projects, groups, and sections
+ Reviews design inputs to ensure alignment and consistency
+ Ensures deliverables comply with applicable codes and standards
+ May contribute to continuous improvement of design guides, standards, and processes
+ May participate and lead process improvement and change management activities
+ Manages drawing control and maintains historical project records
+ Applies engineering principles and established design practices to complex designs
+ Exercises sound judgment in interpreting inputs and making deliverable-related decisions
+ Handles complex technical assignments and provides guidance to other professionals
+ Performs design calculations, material quantity takeoffs, estimates, and documentation
+ May review deliverables produced by others for quality and accuracy
+ May coordinate presentations, production design, and use of electronic design tools
+ May monitor production to ensure consistency, budget, and schedule
+ May program control systems or support plant start-up activities within area of expertise
+ Coordinates with other design groups to exchange information for design development
+ May support field activities as required
+ Communicates project design requirements, progress, and schedules
+ Responsible for assisting with identification of key client interests and drivers and may determine the key clients in some instances. Communicate client interests and drivers to project team members and develop approaches to accommodate these concerns. Assist discipline or department management in developing and communicating appropriate design standards and process improvement activities
+ Identifies and supports training and development needs for supervised personnel
+ Recognized for expertise in one or more areas. May be assigned special assignments depending on technical expertise. Assignments may involve solving a particular design problem or participating in a design team focused on completing an assigned project task
+ Makes presentations and conducts training classes within a specialized area of expertise.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Associate Degree in Drafting or an Engineering Design Related Technology required.
+ Bachelor Degree in an Engineering Design Related Technology preferred.
**Minimum Qualifications**
+ Typically a minimum of 11 years related work experience.

**The Opportunity**
The Virtual Design & Data Solutions (VDDS) Associate Engineering Technician under general supervision,performs technical tasks requiring intermediate knowledge of engineering principles and practices insupport of creating or modifying deliverables. This role will be responsible for the development of plan & profile deliverables using Autodesk Civil 3D and/or Bentley MicroStation.
This role will be within the Black & Veatch Distributed Infrastructure (Grid) solution, supporting client needs related to underground transmission line projects.

+ Supports engineering teams under general supervision
+ Performs technical tasks requiring intermediate knowledge of engineering principles and practices
+ Uses digital tools and design software (e.g., CAD, BIM, 3D modeling)
+ Creates, updates, and maintains technical documentation, drawings, and project deliverables
+ Begins providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineering technicians
+ Stay current on applicable standards, systems, document control practices, departmental guides, and BV policies and procedures
+ Apply knowledge of the BV Quality Program to ensure accurate, compliant deliverables
+ Demonstrate strong attention to detail while supporting continuous improvement and change management initiatives
+ Use and expand applications and tools to evaluate and improve methods, processes, and procedures
+ Create and develop project deliverables based on a variety of design inputs
+ Perform basic computations, including material quantity estimates and dimensional checks
+ Coordinate deliverables with other project groups to minimize errors and interferences
+ Support internal client needs while developing an understanding of external client priorities and drivers
+ Proactively seek out, share, and apply knowledge of new technologies and evolving processes

+ Diploma or Certificate required.
+ Associate Degree in Drafting or an Engineering Design Related Technology preferred.

- Applies knowledge of standards, systems, document control, departmental guides, applicable codes and BV policies and procedures.
- May review project requirements and accurately determine the correct format and contents of the required deliverables.
- Proactively applies BV Quality Program to deliverables. Demonstrates personal accuracy and supports continuous improvement and change management efforts.
- Reviews design inputs in order to ensure consistency. Assists to ensure deliverables are in compliance with the specific codes and standards suitable for the project.
- May apply basic engineering principles and established design practices in developing moderately complex design concepts and deliverables.

- Capable of handling difficult technical assignments within an area of expertise and can provide technical guidance to other professionals.

**Preferred Qualifications**

**The Opportunity**
This opportunity with Black & Veatch offers the chance to collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams within the Power Providers Market Sector, supporting Advanced Power Generation (APG) projects and building critical infrastructure for today's and tomorrow's challenges. Electrical professionals contribute to power systems design, including duct bank modeling, cable tray modeling, grounding, lighting, and other electrical systems supporting advanced power generation facilities.
The Virtual Design & Data Solutions (VDDS) Associate Engineering Technician plays a key role in supporting the development of high‑quality engineering 2D/3D deliverables for these complex infrastructure projects. Under general supervision, this position performs technical tasks requiring general knowledge of electrical engineering principles and practices, with a focus on creating and modifying electrical design drawings using advanced techniques in industry‑standard design tools, such as Bentley MicroStation and other Bentley tools.
For lighting design, experience with AGI32 is preferred to support accurate modeling and illumination calculations across APG facilities.

**Key Responsibilities**
+ Supports engineering teams under general supervision
+ Performs technical tasks requiring intermediate knowledge of engineering principles and practices
+ Uses digital tools and design software (e.g., CAD, BIM, 3D modeling)

+ Begins providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineering technicians
