We are currently seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as a Patient Care Technician (PCT) while making a positive impact on the lives of our adult/geriatric ESRD patient population at our clinic in Anchorage, Alaska .
The primary responsibilities of this position are:
- Cares for and monitors patients before, during, and post dialysis treatment.
- Prepares dialysis machine and its components for treatment.
- Transports patients, records patient's weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse rate and respiration rate.
- Explains dialysis procedure and operation of hemodialysis machine to patient before treatment to allay anxieties.
- Inspects and cleans area of access. (fistula, graft, or catheter)
- Inspects equipment settings, including pressures, conductivity (proportion of chemicals to water), and temperature to ensure conformance to safety standards.
- Starts patient treatment according to physician order.
- Monitors patient for adverse reaction and hemodialysis machine for malfunction.
- Assists in inventory and supply stocking in the dialysis clinic.
Here is what we are seeking in our next PCT:
- High school diploma or equivalent - evidence of such is required pre-employment.
- Previous healthcare experience in dialysis, phlebotomy, or as a CNA/PCA preferred.
- CPR certification required within 90 days of hire.
- Ability to distinguish primary colors - as demonstrated by passing the Ishihara Color Vision Test.
- Successful completion of our dialysis training program, including demonstrated competency, within 8-10 weeks of hire.
- Must meet Center for Medicaid/Medicare Services (CMS)-approved national certification requirements within the CMS timeline. Certification must be maintained as current and in good standing.
- Must be flexible to work most days/times as there are no set shifts.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of the English language and ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
- Must have basic computer skills; proficiency in all clinical applications is required within 90 days of hire.
- Must be able to organize time and tasks well.
- Required use of problem solving, analytical and effective communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
- Must have interpersonal skills necessary to work with patients, staff, and all other individuals as required.

- Assisting patients with ADLs (Activities of Daily Living), supporting mobility and comfort, checking vital signs, collecting specimens, preparing for procedures, and monitoring telemetry as needed.
- Documenting patient care accurately and communicating important updates to the nursing team to ensure coordinated, timely care.
- Helping maintain a safe, clean environment by following infection prevention practices, setting up and caring for equipment, and ensuring needed supplies are ready.
- Responding to patient needs through regular rounding and compassionate communication to promote comfort and trust.
- Training new team members, sharing updates on policies and quality improvement initiatives that enhance patient care.
What qualifications you will need:
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 7 days of employment start date.
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
