Job Description
**Location:** Elizabethtown, NC
**Department:** Thomson
**Reports To:** Production Supervisor
**Position Summary:**
In this position, you will be responsible for safely processing parts to SPTECH quality and rate standards using plastic injection molding machines. You will perform Quality Assurance checks while parts are being made to identify non-conforming parts early and report them to the Process Technician on duty.
**RESPONSIBILITIES:**
+ Perform and document quality assurance checks every 3 hours using go/no-go gauges, calipers or micrometers, and visually inspect against established control plans.
+ Process parts, including but not limited to: separating runners, clipping parts from gates, manually running machines, counting parts using a part counting scale system, and properly packaging and labeling parts in accordance with work order specifications.
+ Ensure the use of the 3-bin system to avoid cross-contamination in the event of non-conforming parts.
+ Documents 3 hour Quality Inspections, individual assigned Machine's throughput and overall Shift throughput
+ Identify and report safety hazards in the Intelex system.
+ Properly process scrap or material to be reground in accordance with company policy.
+ Identify and report packaging material shortages, such as boxes and bags.
+ Clear and close machines when orders are complete, including closing work orders, returning gauges and control plans to Quality Assurance, processing all parts left at the machine, disposing of or grinding all runners and non-conforming parts, disposing of bin labels when bins are empty, and wiping down of and sweeping around the machine.
+ Perform daily 5S requirements, including wiping machines down and conducting assigned area cleanliness duties such as sweeping and emptying trash receptacles.
+ Other duties as assigned.
**QUALIFICATIONS:**
+ **Education:** High school diploma or equivalent.
+ **Experience:** Some experience working in a factory setting preferred but not required.
+ **Skills:** Ability to read and interpret blueprints, perform basic math, and use measuring instruments like calipers and micrometers. Must have good reasoning skills, good verbal and written communication skills.
+ Excellent attendance record.
+ Must have good to excellent eyesight and hand-eye coordination
+ Willing to train individuals with the right attitude and skill set.
**WORK ENVIRONMENT:**
+ 8-hour shift on one of 3 shifts: Days, Swing shift, or Night shift. Monday - Friday with occasional weekend work.
+ Must be able to stand for 8 hours, lift 35 lbs to shoulder height, and perform repetitive motion.
+ The work environment is a factory setting with exposure to moderate noise levels from machinery.
+ Temperature in the work area can vary, so appropriate clothing is recommended, see employee handbook for appropriate attire guidelines.
+ Safety gear, such as gloves, safety glasses, and steel toed shoes, is required and provided by the company.
+ Regular scheduled breaks are provided to ensure comfort and safety during the shift.

Primary Purpose:
Manages overall operations for multiple manufacturing departments and is responsible for the effective and successful management of a safety-first culture, quality control, labor, and productivity. Ensures safe and efficient operations under the daily priorities of Safety, Quality, Throughput, and Cost.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead a zero-injury culture through continuous improvement and employee engagement
- Maintain daily contacts and teamwork to foster trust and ultimately, a larger group of active problem-solvers
- Design and implement plans for the effective use of material and labor resources to achieve manufacturing targets to achieve through-put, and cost objectives
- Supervise the operations of manufacturing personnel to ensure a manufacturing process is within budget and on time
- Oversee the hiring, orienting, and training of technical production employees to ensure a competent workforce
- Conduct studies and research to discover a more effective approach to production
- Ensure operations comply with health and safety standards
- Schedule the maintenance of production equipment and machines to ensure efficient operations
- Analyze and provide solutions to manufacturing challenges or problems
- Participate in quality-based functions to support Root Cause Corrective Action
- Conduct assessments to identify mechanical and procedural limitations that minimize work efficiency
- Monitor and control the production process to ensure compliance to Process Control requirements and the documentation of changes through a robust Process Change Committee
- Review and develop personnel performance to prepare individuals for promotion
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
- Work on/participate in special projects as needed or assigned by senior leadership
Minimum Knowledge, Qualifications, and Experience:
- Lean and/or continuous improvement knowledge required
- Pull production methodologies
- Proficient computer skills and experience with applications such as the Microsoft Suite
- Managing team and individual performance and providing effective feedback
- Coaching team members to encourage individual problem-solving
- Work on well-scoped projects from beginning to end
- Convey concise written and verbal communication
- Lead teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Science, or Engineering preferred
- Casting experience preferred
- 5 years of related manufacturing experience is required
- A minimum of 3 years supervisory experience is required
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in a manufacturing environment.
