Elon Musk, the world’s richest man, has promised to contribute around $45 million monthly to a committee supporting former President Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, sources said.
The super political-action committee (PAC) is named America PAC.
It has notable backers such as Palantir Technologies co-founder Joe Lonsdale, the Winklevoss twins, former US ambassador to Canada Kelly Craft, and her husband Joe Craft, CEO of Alliance Resource Partners.
America PAC, formed in June, aims to register voters and encourage early voting and mail-in ballots in swing states.
The group has observed the Democratic Party’s strong voter turnout efforts and the substantial funds allocated by Biden’s campaign for grassroots initiatives in these critical regions.
America PAC intends to counter these efforts.
Musk, currently the world’s richest person with an estimated net worth exceeding $250 billion.
The Tesla and SpaceX owner is pledging an extraordinary amount to this cause.
Political donations can sometimes be challenging to track.
The largest known contribution to the 2024 election is $50 million from the great-grandson of banker Thomas Mellon to a super PAC supporting Trump.
America PAC has already hired hundreds of employees to execute its strategies.
Sources said they have been actively registering voters, engaging with constituents in swing states, and promoting the request for mail-in ballots.
A recent filing revealed America PAC received $8.75 million in contributions for the three months ending June 30.
According to an insider, Musk’s donations are expected to begin in July.

Other donors to America PAC, as listed in the filing, include several individuals closely connected to Musk.
Bloomberg News previously reported Musk’s donation to the PAC.
However, the scale of his commitment had not been disclosed until now.

Despite Musk’s March tweet stating he would not donate to Trump or Biden’s campaigns, he has grown closer to Trump in recent months.
Following an assassination attempt on Trump at a Pennsylvania rally, Musk formally endorsed Trump on social media platform X, which he owns.
Musk wrote on X: “I fully endorse President Trump and hope for his rapid recovery.”
In a subsequent post, he said: “Last time America had a candidate this tough was Theodore Roosevelt.”
In May, the Wall Street Journal reported Musk and Trump communicated frequently, developing a friendly relationship.
The article said they discussed various topics, including a data-driven project to prevent voter fraud.
The Journal wrote they had gone over a potential advisory role for Musk in a possible second Trump administration.
However, Elon Musk later denied this.
