Twitter has started hiring after massive layoffs since Elon Musk's $44 billion takeover which has seen staff numbers halved.

The announcement came through a series of slides from a company discussion tweeted by the billionaire.

The first slide stated “We’re recruiting” but did not provide any more details.

Musk, who did not specify when he gave the talk, has embarked on a radical revamp that has first reduced the company's headcount by half.

The slides, which reported data from mid-November, show hate speech impressions and impersonations on the social media giant have reduced.

New user signups reached an all-time record, averaging over two million per day for the seven days ending November 16.
