I Want That Job! Allwyn win the National Lottery contract jackpot and it’s pay rises for bosses

I Want That Job!

Find that dream job.

Senior staff at Allwyn, the Czech-owned firm that recently won the following ten-year license to run Britain's National Lottery, will be thanking their lucky stars, say Rob Davies and Alex Lawson in The Guardian.

The pay of 11 members of the board and "key management personnel" rose by 39 percent in 2021 from the £7.4m pot they split the previous year, according to the annual report of Sazka Group, Allwyn's parent company, which Czech billionaire Karel Komárek owns.

Senior staff were paid a combined £10.3m last year, during which the lottery company's revenues, after gaming duties, increased by just over half to €1.8bn, with pre-tax profit doubling to €578m.

Allwyn fended off competition to run the National Lottery from the almost 30-year incumbent, Camelot, as well as Italy's Sisal and media tycoon Richard Desmond.

The latter, with Camelot, lodged a legal challenge against the decision.
