Sainsbury’s to hire 22,000 seasonal employees before Christmas

Sainsbury’s is searching for 22,000 temporary workers nationwide for the upcoming festive season. 

The supermarket giant aims to hire seasonal workers early this week to meet the high holiday demand.

The recruits will serve shoppers at Sainsbury’s and its subsidiary Argos, restock store shelves, and fulfill online orders by picking, packing and delivering items. 

Meanwhile, Sainsbury’s workers at depots and fulfilment centres will ensure that items are ready and distributed to stores and homes.

Temporary staff will be employed on fixed-term contracts ranging from three to twelve weeks. 

In addition to job opportunities, Sainsbury’s has also sweetened the deal for its temporary workforce.

The firm has increased the colleague discount from 10 to 15 percent every Friday and Saturday.

Moreover, they’ll get an extra 15 percent discount at Argos on payday Fridays. 

After four weeks of service, temporary staff will receive a second discount card for a family member or friend at the same address and complimentary meals during their shifts.

Sainsbury’s is not the only retailer preparing for the holiday rush. 

Morrisons has started a search for 3,500 extra Christmas workers to support its stores, food manufacturing facilities, and logistics operations. 

Aldi has launched a second hiring round to recruit 3,000 store workers for the bustling holiday season.
