ScotRail has cancelled over 100 services due to an ongoing pay dispute with staff.

The rail operator scrapped 101 journeys as drivers stopped working overtime and on rest days while wage negotiations continue.

Four unions, including Aslef, Unite, RMT, and TSSA, have rejected a pay offer from the publicly-owned firm.

The proposed three-year deal, retroactive from April this year until 2027, includes a two percent rise each April and a one percent increase each January.

ScotRail has implemented a temporary timetable to maintain reliability.

It will likely remain in effect for the next few weeks, according to ScotRail’s communications director

The company advised music fans attending the TRNSMT festival in Glasgow on Sunday to find alternative travel options due to the reduced number of services.

The firm’s service delivery director, Mark Ilderton, said: “We are sorry to customers who are experiencing disruption to services.

“Customers can stay up to date with the latest travel information via our ScotRail app and website.

“We want to resolve the pay dispute with the trade unions and remain fully committed to further discussions.”

About 1,660 trains, which operate on the network between Monday and Saturday, have been reduced from four trains per hour to two.

They have peak services on certain routes, such as those between Edinburgh and Glasgow, the central belt, and the north.

Overall, approximately 600 services have been cut from the ScotRail timetable due to these measures.
