What are FTSE 100 bosses earning in 2022?

Cash

Executive pay for FTSE 100 bosses has bounced back to pre-pandemic levels, says Harriet Agnew in the Financial Times.

Median total income rose 34 percent to £4.1m in 2021 from the previous year and just shy of the £4.2m earned in 2019.

That's according to an analysis by accountancy firm PwC of the 50 biggest London-listed companies to publish pay reports based on financial years ending in or after September 2021.

Bosses of the biggest businesses across the pond have also done well, according to similar research by data firm Equilar, and Jennifer Liu for CNBC.

Growth was predominantly driven by a significant increase in annual bonuses, which, on average, paid out 82 percent of the potential maximum, compared to 44 percent in 2020 and 66 percent in 2019.

Median pay reached $20m for 2021, a 31% increase from the previous year; CEOS now makes 254 times more than the average worker, a yearly rise of 70.
