Overview/Purpose:
Non-profit religious organization seeks a Human Resources Coordinator to assist in the day-to-day Human Resources activities for their assigned regions.

Reports to: GRSS Associate Director of Human Resources - Office site in Staten Island, 10301

Salary: 60K

Responsibilities:

  1. In their region(s) of responsibility, advise and assist in the HR functions of salary and benefits data entry, payroll processing of all new hires, terminations, changes to employee's records using Paychex My Staffing Pro and Flex and conduct onboarding & orientation of ALL new employees.
  2. Liaison between Regional Superintendents, Business Managers, Treasury Supervisors, Accounting Coordinators, and Principals.
  3. Communicates with the Associate Director of Human Resources & HR Department for direction in resolving all issues relating to bargaining and non-bargaining employees.
  4. Generate new & maintain employee records in Paychex Flex for assigned schools in areas such as compensation, benefits: Medical, Life, Supp. Life, FSA, Commuter, STD, LTD, and AD&D, 403(B).
  5. Coordinates new hire onboarding as it relates to payroll, employee benefits, and conducting new hire orientations.
  6. Process employee terminations in accordance with established procedure.
  7. Responds to questions, concerns, or issues from employees, Regional Superintendents, Business Managers, Treasury Supervisors, Accounting Coordinators, and Principals via email, phone, or a combination thereof.
  8. Ensure proper completion of required documents for leaves of absences, to include Workers Compensation, Short Term Disability (STD) and Long-Term Disability (LTD), Family and Medical Leave (FMLA), and NYS Paid Family Leave (PFL) as well as all related correspondence.
  9. Develop and produce reports and analyses, as required utilizing Excel spreadsheet formats.
  10. Special projects and other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, and Skills:

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field, required.
  2. 2-3 Years' experience in Human Resources including direct contact with employees and management.
  3. Valid Driver's License required.
  4. Experience in interpreting & working with union contracts a plus.
  5. Highly proficient in MS Office Suite, especially with Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  6. Ability to work independently between field offices.
  7. General understanding of the GRSS mission, organization, management philosophy, and culture.
  8. General understanding of best practices associated with the specific human resources activities for which the position is responsible.
  9. Self-starter; Results driven.
  10. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  11. Excellent analytical, prioritization, organizational, and follow-up skills.
  12. Ability to multitask and perform in a high-volume environment.
  13. Ability to articulate and document employee relations situations.
  14. A balanced perspective between organizational and employee needs.
  15. Imaginative in applying accepted policies and practices.
  16. Excellent interpersonal skills.
  17. Bilingual Spanish a plus.

About the Role:

As our HR Generalist , youll play a key role in recruiting, hiring, and onboarding talentespecially for production, skilled trades, and operations . Youll also support essential HR functions like compliance, employee relations, health & safety, and general administration.

  • Comfortable working in office and plant settings
  • Experience with HRIS and applicant tracking systems (ATS) preferred

Scope of the Position

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for performing Human Resources related duties on a professional level and works closely with the Human Resources Manager, Corporate Human Resources staff, and plant supervisors and managers. The Human Resources Generalist works to ensure positive employee relations, and is also involved in training, policy implementation, affirmative action, and employment law.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the confidentiality of personal employee information, company information, records, and related issues in accordance with all the applicable laws.
  • Administration of all employee transfers, leave of absence, change of status and change of employee information.
  • Collection of new hire information for payroll, entering information into the HRIS system and the Timekeeping system.
  • Filing of documents pertaining to employee personnel files, medical files, and work compensation files.
  • Responsible for full cycle recruiting and maintain the recruiting HRIS System.
  • Responsible for all contract job bidding procedures, including job bid postings, shift preferences, changes in shift start times.
  • Answering and assisting employees and agencies with employment and wage verification forms and questions.
  • Communication with employees about any issues, questions, and concerns, as well as posting notice of all communication throughout the plant.
  • Answering all incoming calls for the Human Resources Department and directing employees, vendors, and public to the appropriate person or answering questions if possible.
  • Administration of all employee benefits, including: Health Insurance, 401K, Company Life Insurance, Vacation.
  • Conducting disciplinary or complaint investigations.
  • Additional Duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Four year College Degree preferred
  • Five years experience in Human Resources
  • Ability to read, write and speak English effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Proficiency with database applications and administration systems, specifically Microsoft Office and Dayforce.
  • Ability to analyze, prepare and enter all payroll information accurately and timely.
  • Ability to work effectively alone and prioritize.
  • Must be a highly motivated, service and team-oriented individual with an attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups and associates.
  • Enthusiasm for challenge and new initiatives are prerequisites.
  • Strong analytical ability.
  • Strong working knowledge of Human Resources Information System.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
