IBM has plans to create 800 new AI jobs in Ireland over the next three years, continuing the trend of big investments by major tech companies in the country.
The new hires will help develop advanced software underpinned by AI technology, the state investment agency IDA Ireland said
This announcement marks the largest job creation initiative in the country’s multinational sector this year.
The software and consulting giant employs 3,000 people in Ireland.

The new positions will focus on building software powered by generative AI.
The new workers will target high-growth areas such as security, automation, and hybrid cloud.
James Kavanaugh, IBM’s senior vice president and chief financial officer, said: “As IBM continues to help organisations transform their businesses with hybrid cloud and AI, attracting, developing, and retaining talent remains a key priority.”
This development further boosts Ireland’s economy.
The country already hosts operations for big tech firms like Alphabet, Amazon, Apple, Facebook, Intel, Microsoft, Oracle, Salesforce, and Tencent.
IDA Ireland said the country is home to 16 of the top 20 global tech companies and the top three enterprise software providers.
