Apple users will need to pay more for Twitter Blue

Twitter faces severe service outages globally

Twitter will relaunch an updated version of Twitter Blue, with higher charges for Apple users.

The new version offers users to edit tweets and post 1080p videos when subscribed.

Moreover, verified accounts will receive a blue checkmark with a monthly fee of $8.

But the social media giant announced Apple iOS users would be charged $11 per month.

Twitter did not reveal the reason for the high charges for Apple users.

However, several reports suggest that the firm was exploring ways to offset App Store fees following Elon Musk's $44 billion takeover.

Twitter launched the subscription plan Twitter Blue in November which later got suspended as fake accounts skyrocketed.

The service was then slated to relaunch on November 29 but was postponed.

Musk has slammed Apple through several tweets since his takeover.

He criticized the Cupertino behemoth for charging software developers a 30 percent fee for in-app purchases.

Later, he called out the iPhone maker for allegedly threatening to pull Twitter from its app store.

In his tweets, Apple was accused of canceling its advertising on the platform.

Following a meeting with Apple chief Tim Cook, Mr. Musk tweeted that the misunderstanding about Twitter being deleted from the app store was solved.

Twitter and Apple did not reply to requests for comment.
