Walmart scraps mask mandate for vaccinated staff

Walmart has concluded its mask mandate for fully vaccinated employees and plans to end its daily health checks and paid COVID-19 leave.
The company also clarified it will no longer require daily health screenings at the end of February, apart from staff in California, New York, and Virginia.
Fully vaccinated staff will not be required to wear masks at any Walmart or Sam's Club location, beginning immediately, unless mandated by a state or municipal regulation or ordinance, according to the firm.

Walmart says it will keep an eye on the situation and update customers if anything changes.
Fully vaccinated, according to the firm, means receiving the entire two-dose schedule of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines or the single dosage of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
Unvaccinated employees will be required to continue wearing masks until further notice.
Masks will still be required for employees who work in clinical care settings with direct patient or customer contact, regardless of vaccination status.
The company's COVID-19 Emergency Leave Policy, which provides paid leave for COVID-19-related absences in addition to its usual paid leave policies, will also expire on Thursday, March 31.
Any COVID-19 leave in process on that date will continue under the terms of the current policy, according to the release.
Employees who are diagnosed with COVID-19 on or before Thursday, March 31 may still apply for leave under the policy, and if eligible, the COVID-19 leave will be subject to the present policy's restrictions.
Full-time hourly, salaried, and truck driver employees who are presently receiving short-term disability benefits as a result of COVID-19 will continue to receive such benefits under the provisions of those plans.
