Delivery Hero, the food delivery company, faces a record fine that is higher than expected for alleged violations of EU antitrust law.

The company announced that it could be fined more than €400 million, significantly increasing its previous provision of €186 million.

This decision follows a recent informal exchange with the European Commission and a subsequent detailed analysis.

The EU Commission is currently pursuing legal action against Delivery Hero.

The agency accused the company of engaging in anti-competitive agreements to divide national markets, exchange economically sensitive information, and impose non-poaching clauses.

Delivery Hero’s management has committed to fully cooperating with the EU Commission.

The European Commission conducted raids on Delivery Hero in mid-2022 and late 2023, searching rooms in the company’s Berlin offices, among others.

Despite these actions, Delivery Hero emphasized that the raids alone do not imply definitive conclusions about anti-competitive practices.
