Multi-billion Ford project will bring 2,500 new jobs to Michigan

Ford will create 2,500 jobs in Michigan as part of a $3.5 billion factory investment.

New openings include assemblers and fabricators, electricians, engineers, first-line supervisors of production and operating works, and general and operations managers.

The 2.5 million square foot manufacturing facility in Marshall will be called BlueOval Battery Park Michigan.

It will be utilized to make batteries for many of Ford's key electric vehicles.

Ford Co. Executive Chair Bill Ford said: “We are committed to leading the electric vehicle revolution in America.

“That means investing in the technology and jobs that will keep us on the cutting edge of this global transformation in our industry.

“I am also proud that we chose our home state of Michigan for this critical battery production hub.”

The plant has an employment multiplier of 4.38, which means that for every new job created at the site, an extra 4.38 jobs are expected in Michigan's economy.

Over the next 20 years, these new jobs are expected to generate more than $29.7 billion in personal income.

As a result, this growth will benefit local companies and provide opportunities for families in the neighborhood for future generations.

Ford has committed nearly $13.5 billion in investments in Michigan since 2016, mostly in electric and autonomous vehicle manufacturing.

It has supported over 12,500 new and retained manufacturing jobs in Michigan.

The move comes as Ford reveals it will cut 3,800 jobs in Europe.
