Frasers Group eyes potential Wiggle rescue after its collapse

Frasers Group is considering a potential rescue bid for the recently collapsed online bike retailer Wiggle.

The retail conglomerate, led by Mike Ashley owns Sports Direct, House of Fraser, and Evans Cycles.

It’s a leading contender to acquire Wiggle, which fell into administration earlier this week.

Frasers Group has been actively expanding its portfolio in recent years.

It recently acquired Germany's SportScheck from Wiggle's parent company, Signa Sports United (SSU), and increased its stake in Boohoo. 

Wiggle employs approximately 450 people.

It continues to operate during the administration process, overseen by FRP Advisory. 

In addition to Evans Cycles, Frasers Group's acquisition spree has included purchasing online cycling retailer ProBikeKit.

It invested in Currys, AO World, and Asos throughout 2023.
