Asda has improved employee benefits, including a pay increase to £12.04 per hour.

This pay adjustment represents an 8.4 percent hike from the previous rate of £11.11 per hour.

The supermarket invested £150 million in employee wages for the current year.

With this change, Asda positions itself as the highest-paying traditional supermarket in the UK

The new pay will be implemented in two phases.

The first is an initial increase to £11.44 on April 1st to align with National Minimum Wage adjustments.

This will be followed by the full rise to £12.04 on July 1st.

Employees working within the M25 area will see their wages increase to £13.21 per hour.

Asda is introducing new benefits to support the health and well-being of its 150,000 staff members.

“We have made a record investment in pay this year to recognise the great work our colleagues do serving customers every day"

These benefits include the Care Concierge service, offered in partnership with Legal & General.

There is also free confidential advice on eldercare, and the Mortgage Advice Bureau.

Asda chief people and corporate affairs officer Hayley Tatum said: “We have made a record investment in pay this year to recognise the great work our colleagues do serving customers every day and we are delighted that our proposal has been accepted.

“We also understand that supporting our colleagues goes beyond pay and the workplace, which is why we continue to explore new benefits for colleagues to provide support for their and their families health and wellbeing.”

This comes amid a threat of strikes at several stores, including a previous walkout at the Gosport superstore.

Staff at the Wisbech store in Cambridgeshire have also planned a strike over the Easter weekend.
