Fake Wilko websites warning after shoppers ripped off with made up offers

Wilko store

Shoppers are warned of several fake Wilko websites that falsely advertise heavily discounted products from the collapsed retailer.

Wilko recently closed online sales after entering administration, leaving in-store purchases as the sole option.

Approximately ten counterfeit websites have surfaced since the retailer's closure, which claim to offer discounted Wilko goods.

PwC, the administrators for Wilko, is actively working to shut down these sites.

Some shoppers on Facebook claimed they spent £100 on merchandise from these websites and raised concerns about potential refunds or delivery of ordered items.

One of these sham sites attempted to lure customers with a Facebook post advertising a sofa, a product Wilko doesn’t  sell, at a mere £4.99, along with discounts of "up to 90%."

They claimed this was due to a surplus of goods in the warehouse.

While some shoppers received confirmation emails for their orders, Wilko cautioned that these notifications were likely fraudulent.

A PwC spokesperson said: “We have been made aware of a number of fake Wilko websites which are offering Wilko products at heavily discounted prices.

“These websites are not genuine and have been set up to scam users, the only legitimate Wilko website is www.wilko.com.

“We are in the process of working with the relevant authorities to have these websites removed.

"We would like to remind our customers that all Wilko sales are now in-store and you are unable to purchase items online.”
