Uniqlo is boosting its UK retail workers' wages by 7 percent and introducing a range of new benefits.
Starting from April 1, this increase will bring the pay for London-based "entry grade" store assistants to £13.15 per hour and £12.15 for those outside London.
Staff will also receive an improved equal pay policy for parental leave, an annual leave entitlement of 34 days, and a yearly clothing allowance of £300 net.
This represents Uniqlo's second wage increase within two years, culminating in a 29 percent uplift in annual earnings for its store employees.
Uniqlo's COO, Alessandro Dudech, said: “The reason why we’ve done this first and foremost is really to show our commitment to employee wellbeing.
“For Uniqlo, our employees are our most valuable assets, so by investing in a salary increase and a series of enhanced employee benefits, we hope to ensure our staff feel valued and motivated to really contribute to the company’s success.”
