Elon Musk Announces Pay Hike For Tesla AI Engineers

Elon Musk has said Tesla is increasing the pay of its artificial intelligence engineers to counter OpenAI's poaching efforts.

In a series of X posts, Musk said Tesla is raising salaries when OpenAI is “aggressively recruiting Tesla engineers with massive compensation offers” and succeeding “in a few cases.”

Musk posted the competition for AI “is the craziest talent war I’ve ever seen.” 

He was responding to reports from the tech news channel The Information that Tesla's machine-learning scientist, Ethan Knight, departed for Musk's AI startup, xAI.
