Facebook

Facebook owner Meta is getting ready to publicly declare whether it will reinstate former US President Donald Trump on Facebook and Instagram, according to sources on Sunday.

The social media giant previously stated that it will decide whether to let the former president return by Saturday, January 7.

However, now they state the decision will not be made until later this month, according to the newspaper's sources.

According to people familiar with Meta's operations, the company has formed a working group to address the issue, and the group includes members of the public policy, communications, and content policy teams.

Meta did not instantly respond to a request by Reuters for comment.

The news comes after Elon Musk, Twitter's new owner, reversed a permanent ban on Trump on the social media platform in November last year after polling users.
