Motor vehicle manufacturer Forvia cuts 268 staffers in Illinois

Automotive maker Forvia will lay off 268 people in Illinois.

The move comes as the manufacturer is winding up its Highland Park metals division.

The production will be moved to another facility.

HR manager Cortney Scott said the job cuts will be expected to be done by January 31.

Spokeswoman Misty Matthews said the move was "to meet our manufacturing and production needs."

She said: "Changes like these help us effectively and efficiently leverage our manufacturing footprint, better service our customers and leverage utilization to meet our production requirements."

The company is helping affected employees find vacant roles into which they could switch.

In October, Stellantis eliminated the third production shift at a Michigan plant which affected 1,215 jobs.

The firm called it an effort "improve production efficiency.”
