The US labor board claims Elon Musk's X has unlawfully fired an employee in retaliation for her online posts challenging the return-to-office policy.

A regional director of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) says X violates federal labor laws.

The law protects employees from punitive actions for discussing their working conditions and organizing.

The dispute started on November 10, 2022, when Musk directed employees to return to the office.

Reportedly, he said: "If you can physically make it to an office and you don't show up, resignation accepted."

In response, employee Yao Yue posted on Twitter, encouraging colleagues: "Don't resign, let him fire you."

Shortly, Yue was terminated, allegedly violating the National Labor Relations Act.

Musk's acquisition of Twitter in October 2022 involved a series of dismissals.

It included the removal of top executives, affecting over half of its workforce as a cost-cutting measure.

This restructuring has led to various legal challenges against the company.

The company has faced discrimination claims against women and employees with disabilities.

X also failed to fulfill promised severance payments to laid-off workers.

Where the company has filed responses it has denied any wrongdoing on its part.
