Morrisons eliminates Saturday shifts for HQ Staff

Morrisons is changing the flexible working policy at its Bradford headquarters.

Four years ago, the supermarket launched a four-day work for staff.

However, the previous policy mandated staff to work 13 Saturdays annually.

With the new policy, effective next month, Morrisons will spread the 37.5 contracted hours over a four-and-a-half-day week.

It eliminates the unpopular Saturday workday.

This change is expected to impact approximately 2,000 West Yorkshire head office staff members.

Various supermarkets and retailers have recently followed Morrisons' lead in adopting shorter work weeks

Asda, Morrisons' competitor, announced last week that it is experimenting with a four-day workweek to enhance retention among store managers.

Similarly, Sainsbury’s and M&S introduced flexible working policies last year, allowing staff to adopt compressed work weeks.
