Ford to create 900 jobs at Michigan Assembly Plant

Ford will boost its Bronco and Ranger vehicle production by adding 900 new jobs and introducing a third shift at its Michigan Assembly Plant.

The new hires and 700 employees from the Rouge Complex who applied for the openings will constitute the workforce for the added shift.

This expansion is driven by the growing demand for the Bronco, Bronco Raptor, and the upcoming Ranger and Ranger Raptor slated for release this year.

Ford also plans to reduce gas-powered and hybrid F-150 truck production, aligning its manufacturing strategy with evolving customer preferences.

Ford's President and CEO, Jim Farley, said: "We are taking advantage of our manufacturing flexibility to offer customers choices while balancing our growth and profitability. Customers love the F-150 Lightning, America's best-selling EV pickup.

"We see a bright future for electric vehicles for specific consumers, especially with our upcoming digitally advanced EVs and access to Tesla's charging network beginning this quarter."

The restructuring will impact approximately 1,400 employees, with 700 of them transitioning to the new shift at the Michigan Assembly Plant.

The remaining workers will assume different roles at the Rouge Complex or other facilities in Southeast Michigan.

Ford assures that employees at component plants supporting F-150 Lightning production may also be affected.

However, the company said it would provide placements within Southeast Michigan for those affected.
